






A discussion on the technology for construction of low embankment system hydropower projects was held in Yangon on Friday.
Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han discussed the ministry's arrangements to generate electricity through renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower to meet the demand in the coming summer.
Feasibility studies have been conducted to explore the potential for generating more power by utilizing river water resources. These projects not only aim to provide electricity but also have the potential to benefit agriculture land and contribute to efficient water transport.
Observations have been made at the selected sites for low embankment system hydropower projects. He called for suggestions regarding the technological aspects of implementing these projects.
Officials from Hydropower Implementation Department and experts from the Myanmar National Committee on Large Dams shared their findings from the study and emphasized the need for further detailed studies in a phased manner.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister met with the staff from Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (Headquarter) in Ahlone Township. During this meeting, he provided instructions regarding power distribution and financial matters, including electricity bills.
