







Funded by Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2022), under the Initiatives for Establishment of Innovative Model on Village-Level Poverty Reduction among LMC countries, the opening ceremony of basic sewing course (1/2023) and cultivation course with natural fertilizer use greenhouse farming system to be able to sell more kitchen vegetables were held at YwaThit village, Bago Region on 1st of June.
District Head, Rural Development Department-Bago, Khaing Shwe Wah said "There are 25 trainees who are attending from nearby three villages. There will be 2 course instructors. It is one month course. We will train them to be able to sew clothing for both men and women including ready to wears. We provide basic sewing tools for the trainees also. After the basic courses, we have plans to continue the advanced levels. At the same time, we are helping to get job opportunities for the trainees who want to work at the garment factories."
Last year, the same basic sewing course was conducted with 25 trainees, and some of them from that course are opening own sewing shop, some are working at small scale sewing business in the village and the remaining ones are working at the garment factories respectively.
District Head, Rural Development Department-Bago, Khaing Shwe Wah said "Training of good practices for agriculture, livestock and fishery sectors is conducted. The instructors from the relevant departments will train them. By doing such trainings, farmers could increase the income by applying the better practices. Along with that, consumer safety foods will be produced more and the market demand could increase further. "
The Initiatives for Establishment of Innovative Model on Village-Level Poverty Reduction among LMC countries has started since 2022-23 Financial Year and continues in 2023-24 FY.
