Pope Francis prayed on Sunday for  the victims of a hospital flooding in Mexico's Hidalgo state last week.

At least 17 patients were killed after heavy rain caused flooding which cut power to the hospital in the town of Tula. Around 40 people were evacuated by rescue workers from the hospital, which was treating a number of COVID-19 patients.

After reciting his usual Angelus prayer in front of crowds of faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis expressed his closeness to the victims of the floods, and their families. The Pontiff also prayed for "those being unjustly held in foreign countries."
