The Polish and Czech prime ministers called on the European Union to toughen migration rules, with the Czech Republic describing previous methods as "insufficient".

Both countries, alongside Hungary and Slovakia, have been calling on the EU to tackle migration in third countries from which refugees come to Europe since 2014 when the continent was hit hard by a wave of migrants from Africa and the Middle East. They have also called for a more efficient combat with people smugglers.
