Police deploy after deadly shooting in South Africa

Nine people were killed and ten others injured when gunmen opened fire at a licensed tavern in Bekkersdal township, west of Johannesburg, police said on Sunday.

The shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. local time. Police said about 12 suspects arrived in a white kombi minibus and a silver sedan, fired at patrons inside the bar and continued shooting as people fled. Gauteng Serious and Violent Crime Investigations, working with the Crime Detection Tracing Unit, have launched a manhunt. No arrests have been reported.
