Startup India was launched on 16th January 2016 by Prime Minister Modi as a transformative national programme to nurture innovation, promote entrepreneurship and enable investment-driven growth, with the objective of making India a nation of job creators rather than job seekers.

Over the past decade, Startup India had emerged as a cornerstone of India’s economic and innovation architecture. On the occasion, the Prime Minister stated that in 2025, India registered 44,000 new startups, marking the biggest jump in any single year since the launch of the Startup India initiative.

Modi further observed that risk-taking, which was once discouraged, has now become mainstream. He lauded India’s startup founders for their impressive confidence and ambitious outlook.
