France’s plastics industry, particularly in the “Plastics Valley,” is facing rising production costs and supply disruptions linked to tensions in petrochemical markets amid the Iran war.

Industry reports show sharp increases in raw material prices, with some inputs doubling within weeks. In several cases, suppliers are unable to provide fixed prices or delivery timelines at the time of ordering. Production costs for plastic goods have surged, leading manufacturers to raise selling prices.

Some companies have temporarily halted operations to reorganize production schedules and carry out maintenance. Demand remains weaker compared to post-COVID levels, limiting the ability of manufacturers to pass on repeated price increases.
