Chile's President, Sebastian Pinera, announced Thursday that Chileans will begin to receive a fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccines to combat the spread of the virus commencing Monday, January 10.
Until now, Chile has been able to control new outbreaks, but over the last few days there has been a noticeable increase in cases with the number of people becoming infected rising to 3,100, the highest number in six months.
"Experience has shown us that vaccines and reinforcement efficacy diminish in time and also with the appearance of new variants," stated Pinera who went on to say that all those who are immuno-compromised will be the first to receive the fourth dose.
