Philippine and Viet Nam coast guards hold first joint drills

The Philippine and Vietnamese coast guards held firefighting and search-and-rescue exercises off Manila on Friday, the first such drills between the two countries in the South China Sea. The drills featured a simulated search and rescue operation and the use of water cannons to repel a mock threat. Both countries said the drills contributed to maintaining peace and stability in the adjacent sea.
