Petro calls for demonstrations in Colombia

Colombian President Gustavo Petro on Thursday called for nationwide demonstrations to defend his public consultation initiative aimed at reforming the labor system. 

Petro, the first left-wing president in Colombia's history, is seeking to expand workers' rights and is promoting a referendum with 12 questions to reform the Colombian labor code, after Congress rejected a first legislative bill promoted by his government in April 2025.
