Peruvian shamans make a plea ahead of Earth Day

Shamans and healers from all corners of Peru met in Lima on Friday, performing a syncretic ritual to make a plea for nature ahead of Earth Day. The ceremony was held atop of San Cristobal hill, with a view of the desertic scenery of the Peruvian capital.

According to the President of the organization of shamans and healers of Peru, they burnt incense, shook rattles, and blew seashells so they bring the attention of what humanity is doing to the planet.

Peruvian Environment Minister also marked the date, leading a campaign planting trees in a park on the outskirts of the city.It is part of a larger effort, which has led to the planting of over 100,00 trees.Earth Day is celebrated on Saturday, April 22.
