Peru's President Pedro Castillo announced on Wednesday that he has accepted the resignation of his prime minister, Guido Bellido.

Peruvian law states that if the prime minister stands down, the entire cabinet resigns too. However, several ministers could keep their posts in a new government.

Castillo did not mention the reasons for Bellido's resignation, except to say that "decisions in favour of governance" had been taken because of the "significant" economic and health issues that the country was experiencing. A number of other ministers also had limited experience.
