

Peru is heading for a new set of restrictions ahead of the festive season, aiming to reduce the spread of the omicron COVID-19 variant.
Lines of people getting COVID-19 booster shots and second doses were seen at various vaccination points across capital Lima on Tuesday. In previous days, the vaccination centers had appeared deserted. On Monday, Health Minister Hernando Cevallos said authorities had confirmed a total of 12 cases caused by the omicron variant. Cevallos said authorities would impose a curfew starting at 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. for Christmas and New Year's Eve, among other measures.
