Peru: OAS General Assembly comes to a close

The 52nd General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) closed its three-day sessions on Friday with a ceremony attended by representatives of the international institution and Peruvian authorities.

Member States addressed the crisis in Haiti and in a resolution pledged urgent assistance to overcome the conflict in the country.

The Secretary-General of the organization, Luis Almagro, called on the United Nations to help give a rapid response in Haiti, appealing to their best capacities in terms of human, financial and material resources to be present in Haiti.
