Peru marks ceviche day as Congress mulls fishing law

Peruvians celebrated National Ceviche Day, their famed seafood dish prepared with citrus juice and spices as the National Congress is tackling a fishing law that aims to prevent the overexploitation of the Peruvian sea.

Locals gathered in the Peru's capital of Lima to enjoy a plate of ceviche during an outdoor gastronomical festival. An issue prevalent in the minds of chefs and leaders of conservation groups is the promotion of sustainable exploitation of the sea. A Peruvian chef said the overfishing could ultimately threaten the future of their national dish.
