Peru eradicates more than 17,000 hectares of coca crops

Peruvian police eradicated coca plants as part of a national plan that targets more than 17,000 hectares of illegal crops in the first half of 2025, according to the government. Peru, one of the world's top coca leaf producers, aims to eliminate over 34,000 hectares this year, up from 26,475 in 2024.
