Permanent Residence System: PR interview process conducted to 21 applicants

The Central Committee on Implementation of Permanent Residence System conducted an interview program to foreigners who have been granted approval.

The event was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw with the attendance of Chairman of the Central Committee Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing.

Before the interview process, the Union Minister met with the Central Committee members and clarified the conditions on the work process for practicing the Permanent Residence System-PR System and step by step forming of the committees.

He also explained the implementation of PR system through 4 categories, receiving application for PR both in local and overseas embassies as the amendments of the Bylaw was enacted, granting permit for PR applicants, and arrangements for evaluation and assessment to those who left for the process due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Then, Director General of the Department of Immigration and Population U Ye Tun Oo clarified the interviewing process for PR applicants. Later, the Union Minister and committee members interviewed to the applicants and sought for approval. Since the commencement of PR system in 2015, a total of 746 applicants have applied for PR system and 670 have been granted approval.

Among the applicants, 7 have been denied for PR according to the bylaw, one withdrawal and one case of death. In today’s program, 21 applicants have been interviewed and once they were approved, further process will be continued for issuance of PR certificates and ID cards.
