The Award Presenting Ceremony to honor the winners of Yangon Region Level Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition was held at Yangon Region Government Office on 15th September.
Over 1,000 contestants competed in the various categories of the Regional Level Competition. The District level competition was started from 20th August with the participation of the contestants from 14 districts. The Basic Education level competition was held from 2nd to 3rd August and Higher Education Level competition on August 5th.
This year, the number of contestants for Yangon Region Level competition has increased, showcasing the growing interest of youths in Myanmar tradition and culture.
Chairman, Yangon Region Organizing Committee, Htay Aung, said " Under the guidance of Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, the award presenting ceremony is held in a grand manner. During the ceremony, a total of 733 awards were presented to Amateur level (First Class), Amateur level (Second Class), basic education level competitions and higher education level. The winners were honored with medal, honorary certificates and cash awards." The award winners were awarded with more than 110 million kyats cash during the ceremony.
1st Prize Winner, Classical/Modern Song Competition (Basic Education Level), KhitHaythar Lin, said " I tried my best to win the 1st prize. I would like to thanks to all of my instructors for their guidance and patience. I will also try my best to win medal in central level competition." Over 380 contestants from Yangon Region will participate in the Central level competition in Nay Pyi Taw. The contestants are now undergoing training at the respective venues.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Organizing Committee, Dr. Kay ThiHtwe, said " Currently, Amateur level First Class and Second Class and basic education level contestants are under training at Hlaing Center, Higher education level, Chin tradition, Rural and Yote Sone Thabin contestants are under training at National University of Arts and Culture."
With the aims to uplift national prestige and integrity and to preserve the cultural heritage and national characteristics, 25th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition (Central Level) will be held with grand scale in Nay Pyi Taw in October 2024.
