

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, joined by officials from North Carolina, including Gov. Roy Cooper, lit the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree on the West Lawn of the Capitol.
It's a tradition that dates back to 1964.This year's decorated tree, a red spruce named "Ruby", stands nearly 80 feet tall and comes from the Piscah National Forest in the Tar Heel State. After being harvested on November 2, the began a 14-day-long journey to the nation's capital. It has been decorated with handmade ornaments from residents in North Carolina.
