Peaceful Thingyan in Taunggyi: Shan State CM and officials joined the festival

Although the traditional Myanmar New Year Water Festival (Thingyan) is usually celebrated with great joy and excitement, this year, due to the impact of the Mandalay earthquake, some regions and states suffered damage and losses. Therefore, the 1386 Myanmar Traditional New Year Water Festival is being observed without entertainment, music, or dancing, in accordance with cultural traditions. The state has designated it as the "Peaceful Thingyan," and "Walking Thingyan". The Peaceful Thingyan," "Walking Thingyan" and the offering of charity feast were held on the Office Road, Taunggyi, at 4 PM, on April 13, on the Eve of Thingyan. 

During the traditional Myanmar "Peaceful Thingyan," and "Walking Thingyan" and the offering of charity feast, Shan State Government officials, including the State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, State High Court Chief Justice, state ministers, the State Advocate General, the State Government Secretary, and district and township-level department officials attended. The State Chief Minister and other officials sprinkled scented water using Euginia branches on the attendees.   

The State Chief Minister and officials then visited the charity feast pavilions of various departments.

They offered encouragement and sprinkled scented water with Euginia branches as part of the  Thingyan tradition.
