Paying Respects: Tatmadaw families pay respects to retired personnel

Families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) paid respects to retired senior military officers who attended the 78th Anniversary Armed Forces Day Parade at the Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

It was attended by 19 retired military personnel and 7 wives. Senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and their wives led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla paid respects to those retired senior military officers and their wives.

On the occasion, the Senior General said that in accordance with the tradition of the Tatmadaw, they are those who have inherited the responsibilities from generation to generation, and the retired military personnel who attended the ceremony are also their parents and teachers.

That’s why, they pay respects annually in this time. The Senior General expressed his gratitude and delightedness for their attending to the Armed Forces Days every year. He also expressed that according to the Buddhist tradition, paying respects to superiors with gratitude is a good tradition of the Tatmadaw.

Afterwards, the Senior General and wife, and senior military officers and their wives on behalf of the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) paid respects to retired military personnel in line with the Myanmar traditions. The Senior General and wife, the Vice-Senior General and wife and senior military officers in person presented gifts to the retired military officers respectfully.

On behalf of the retired senior military officers, General Thein Sein and Lt-Gen Tun Kyi and gave words of advice. After taking documentary photos, the Senior General and wife cordially greeted the retired senior military officers and their wives at the ceremony.
