Paying Homage: SAC Chairman offers gold foils to Shwedagon Pagoda

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accompanied by Joint Secretary of the SAC Council General Ye Win Oo, SAC Council members, Union Ministers, Yangon Region Chief Minister and concerned officials visited Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon on 15th February.

First, the Prime Minister paid homage to the Ruby Eyed Buddha Image at the upper terrace and offered emerald alm bowl, flowers and water. Then, the Prime Minister inspected the gold foil offering condition, resilience of the diamond bud and offered jewellery and religious items and sprinkled scented water.

Then, the Prime Minister offered 2 pure gold plate weighing 6 tical each at the vane of the pagoda. These donation was made by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife and family members. Then, the Unio Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture clarified the gold foil offering condition on the full circumference of the pagoda during 2024-2025 fiscal year.

A total of 1,200 gold plates are necessary to complete the full-circumference gold foil offering of the pagoda. At present, a total of 1,060 gold plates have already installed and 140 gold plates are required to complete the process. The Prime Minister stressed on long term resilience of the pagoda and cleanliness of the pagoda compound.
