France’s Notre Dame Cathedral’s reconstruction is progressing fast enough to allow its reopening to visitors and Catholic masses at the end of next year, less than six years after the shocking fire that tore through its roof. The cathedral's iconic spire will reappear above the monument this year.

The army general in charge of the colossal reconstruction project, Georgelin said the cathedral will reopen in December 2024, in line with the goal set by President Emmanuel Macron. Culture Minister Abdul-Malak said that although the cathedral will be open to the public, that it "doesn't mean that all the renovation work will be over" and that there will "still be some renovation works going on in 2025."
