A colorful parade of people representing all corners of Peru performed traditional dances and rhythms on Tuesday, observing the World Day of Peace. Performers representing the Amazonic dances from Iquitos, the heritage of the Afro-Peruvian population, and the Andean cultures paraded through Miraflores municipality.

The parade finished at Tarata street. The event took place days after the death of Abimael Guzman, former leader of Shining Path. This is the first time that Peru has commemorated the date since the UN established it as the International Day for Peace.
