Pankhin Project after MOCHA: Issuance of NRCs and household lists in Rakhine State

Under the Pankhin project, the issuance of National Registration Card (NRC) and household list is being implemented. In Rakhine State, due to the storm ‘MOCHA’, locals may have lost their NRCs and household lists. Department of the National Registration and Citizenship under the Ministry of Immigration and Population is making field trip in the state to issue new NRCs and household lists lost or damaged by the storm.

Htein Win, Director General, Dept. National Registration&Citizenship , said " The household lists and NRCs can be damaged by natural disasters. Our department has been working on the issuance of NRC and household lists in Sittwe Township of Rakhine State that was damaged by the storm. We will continue to implement it in other regions and states that are affected by the storm such as Chin State, Kachin State, Magway and Sagaing regions. NRCs and household lists will be issued free of charge."

According to an official, the field trip is underway in Rakhine State to also issue temporary household lists for the people who came from other regions and states.
