Third session of the Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong commenced with the participation of representatives from all concerned sectors.
This conference was held after going into recess for over a year. The representatives stressed that despite challenges, a peace and prosperous national could be establish with the inclusiveness.
Representative, Ta’aung (Palaung) National Party, Tar Hla Pe said “We are marching towards our goal with great expectation and satisfaction. We really happy and welcome it. We have a framework in NCA for all inclusiveness. Only when there are inclusiveness of all entire nation, the genuine peaceful and prosper country would be emerged.”
The first session of Union Peace Conference - 21st Century Panglong was held from 31 August to 4 September 2016 and the second session from 24 to 29 of May 2017. 37-point agreement was signed as part of the Union Accord during the second session.
The representatives hope to achieve more agreements in this session.
Chairman, Shan Nationalities Democracy Party, Sai Ai Pao said “We hope for the best. We heard that two topics will be discussed under political sector. I hope everything will be success. Everyone is trying their best for achieving peace.”
The representatives also pointed out that all involved persons in this process have to interact among others so that it could help build mutual trust and understanding.
Representative, Arakan Liberation Party, Saw Mya Yazar Lin said “It is important to have great passions for peace by the Government, Hluttaw, Tatmadaw and people. We need to push forward. We will see how we can amend the constitution based on the results from this conference. So, it is very important, and we need to organize such a conference constantly. We need to build friendship among others.”
Representative, Pa-O National Liberation Organization, Khun Okka said “We have to march to the long journey. This conference is a bridge to this journey. So, it is very important. All involved persons have to keep in touch always.”
The third session of the Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong will be held for six days from July 11th to 16th in Nay Pyi Taw.
