Palestinians return home after ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

Palestinians from Gaza City and nearby areas are returning home after a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect. A senior government official said the US is sending a team to monitor the ceasefire. The official said about 200 personnel from the US Central Command will be involved in setting up a kind of joint task force.

They will work alongside monitors from other countries, including Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye. However, the official said they will not be dispatched to Gaza. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on social media that up to 200 military personnel will monitor the ceasefire in Israel.
