Talks between Iran and the United States ended without agreement following marathon negotiations in Islamabad on Sunday.

JD Vance said the discussions failed to produce a breakthrough and that a final proposal had been presented to Tehran. The negotiations aimed to ease tensions after more than 45 days of conflict in the Middle East. Residents in Islamabad expressed disappointment over the lack of progress while remaining hopeful for renewed dialogue.

Key sticking points included differences over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and concerns related to nuclear assets. Both sides maintained firm positions throughout the talks, limiting the chances of an immediate agreement. Pakistan facilitated the negotiations as part of its ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions.
