The Pakistani climate change minister is calling for global action to curb greenhouse gas emissions, saying countries like hers are suffering the worst consequences of climate change.
Sherry Rehman said Tuesday at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos that her country has been "forced to put in technologies and transition to renewables simply because the import bills for the fossil fuels are too high and they're crippling."
The minister said Governments need to establish incentives and impose penalties to companies in order to curb greenhouse gas emissions because "the moral imperative just is not enough." "It's not up to businesses alone."Rehman was part of the session "Bending the Emissions Curve" along with industry representatives.
