Pakistan authorities destroy 22 tons of seized drugs

An anti-narcotics force of Pakistan's Sindh province destroyed several tonnes of drugs and illegal liquor worth more than 1.5 billion Pakistani rupees in Karachi on Friday.

The force burned more than 22 tonnes of drugs, including 264 kilograms of heroin, and buried contraband chemicals, seized in 2021. It also destroyed over 2,000 bottles of illegal liquor.

Officials said the force has started a programmed to create an awareness among students about the hazards of drugs use. The Anti-Narcotics Force runs four hospitals for drug addicts, one each in Karachi, Sukkur, Hyderabad, and Islamabad.
