






Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin attended the ceremony of launching Shwedagon Pagoda Digital Directory held at the victory ground (at North-West corner) on the platform of the Shwedagon pagoda at 7 AM on Monday.
Also present on the occasion were the Union Minister for Religious Affairs nad Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Deputy Minister U Aye Tun, Yangon region Ministers, departmental officials and invited guests.
First, the Union Minister, Chief Minister, Deputy Minister and rotating Chairmanship opened the occasion by cutting the golden ribbon.Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that the head of State gave a guidance to develop Pagoda Digital Directory of 9 prominent pagodas including Shwedagon pagoda in Yangon, Mahamuni Buddha Image in Mandalay, Kyaikhteeyo pagoda in Kyaikhto, Shwezigon pagoda in Nyaung-U and Bagan Ananda pagoda, Uppadasanti pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw, Myathalun pagoda in Magway, Shwe Hsan Daw pagoda in Pyay and Shitt Thaung pagoda in Mra-U.
According to the guidance, the initiation for launching the Pagoda Digital Directory Web Portal with the collaboration of the Department of Archeological and National Museum and University of Commuter Studies (Magway, Pyay, Taungoo, Thaton) was carried out to upgrade as Pagoda Digital Directory.
In the meantime, according to the request of Bago Region Government, as the Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda was included in the directory. So, a total of 10 Pagodas were implemented. The pagoda board of trustee needs to preserve the Pagoda Digital Directory systematically.
Further prominent pagodas in the regions and states than intended 10 pagodas will be included after coordinating with the relevant responsible persons. After giving words of delight by the Yangon Region Chief Minister, secretary of Pagoda Digital Directory implementation work committee member of Shwedagon pagoda board of trustee U Hla Myint clarified regarding with the work implementations.
Next, the Union Minister and Chief Minister launched Shwedagon pagoda Digital Directory by pressing auto button, made trial use of pagoda digital directory and inspected Shwedagon Pagoda Digital Directory Stations. After that, the Union Minister and Chief minister and officials viewed round the photo exhibition of the Shwedagon pagoda in Chantha Gyi prayer hall.
