







The trial of five men accused of carrying out the June 5, 2022, attack on a church in Owo, Ondo State, southwestern Nigeria, is set to begin on August 19. The massacre left at least 40 people dead and shocked the local community.
YemiOsinbajo, Nigerian Vice-president said "As you know, the President (Muhammadu Buhari) has already ordered a full-scale investigation of these crimes and I assure you that without any doubt, those who perpetuated these will be found, they'll be fished out, they will pay for the consequences of this heinous crime."
The attack, which occurred during a church service, caught many worshippers by surprise, with survivors describing chaos as gunfire erupted and congregants were rushed to hospitals. Authorities continue to stress the importance of the trial as part of broader efforts to address security concerns in the region.
