Oversea Worker Identification Card-OWIC : Issue from the Yangon Region Labor Department

The workers who are individual workers, workers returning from leave, Permanent Residence Work Pass holders can apply the application for Oversea Worker Identification Card-OWIC from the Yangon Region Labor Department at 8th Miles of Mayangone Township starting from 20th of March in 2023.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor, Nyunt Win, said " In the past, OWIC card was issued to the migrant workers who are going to Thailand MOU workers, individual workers, Workers returning from leave and Permanent Residence Work Pass holders in Pinlon Hall of North Dagon Township.    There are delay because the Demand are more than supply. So, we divided in the sector. MoU workers who are going to Thailand continue to issue the OWIC from the North Dagon Labor office. Another Individual workers, Workers returning from leave and the holder of permanent employee registration card at abroad was issued at Yangon Region Labour Office Department. It is fast because we are doing these application for migrant workers in two places of Yangon.
And then, we will be opening soon the new Labour Office Departments for issue the OWIC at Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay Region.   At present, related to the MoU workers will be checked and send from the Nay Pyi Yaw to Yangon.  The migrant workers can be traveled to abroad an OWIC as well as PJ passport. If they haven’t the OWIC, they can’t pass at the Airports, Seaports and Border Gates. Therefore, the Ministry of Labour carrying out the good quality service and the timely completion as quickly as possible for Labour."
