Over 100-year-old trees: 100-year-old Thabyay and Kanyin trees found

A Eugenia plant (Tha Pyay) and three Kanyin (wood oil trees) that are over 100 years of age were found at the Myanaung Township in Ayeyarwady Region. Those plants are listed on the rare forest trees by the township forest department to be conserved.

The 100-year-old Thabyay (Eugenia) was found in the No 46 Hmyinwa forest reserve in Myanaung and it is 22 feet and 8 inches in girth and about 100 feet in height. The tree is located near Pathein-Monywa highway Milepost 78/2. The 100-year-old Kanyin — wood-oil — tree was found in the compound of Latpankwin Village resident U Tin Myint in Myanaung Township. 21 feet and five inches girth and about 100 feet high Ka Nyin tree is located near Pathein-Monywa  road milepost 75/0.

Another 100-year-old two Kanyin trees were found in the compound of Satthwarchaung Village resident Daw Htway in Myanaung Township. The girth of the trees is 12 feet and 17 feet respectively and the height is about 100 feet respectively. The trees are located about 1.5 miles from Myanaung-Hinthada road milepost 49/2.

The Forest Department will conserve these trees for the long term, according to township forest department.
