Outstanding Students: Ma Myat Lay Education Foundation Honours Outstanding Students

Ma Myat Lay Education Foundation awarded outstanding students prizes at Diamond Jubilee Hall in Yangon on Monday. 

Writer Ma Myat Lay, the initiator of the foundation, entered the literary industry in 1935 and she created energetic literature for the loyal spirit of the people in the independence struggles. Ma Myat Lay Education Foundation was founded to honor veteran writer Ma Myat Lay who had written literature serving the interest of the nation for many years.

Family Member (Son-In-Law), Ma Myat Lay Education Foundation, Nyan Tun U said “We’d present Ma Myat Lay Scholastic Award, Foundation Award, Sport Award and Special Award to the outstanding students. This is not only to support the country’s human resources development but also to nurture the youths with good mindset and behaviour.”

The foundation started awarding 12 outstanding students in 2001-2002 Academic Year. This time, the foundation awarded 172 outstanding students.

Family Member (Grandson), Ma Myat Lay Education Foundation, Kyaw Dewa said “This year awarding ceremony is for 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 Academic Years. So 31 outstanding students from Yangon University, Yangon Economic University and Yangon Technology University as well as 141 outstanding students from 1 private school and 22 Basic Education High Schools of Yangon and Bago regions were awarded. We selected these outstanding students by looking at not only education background but also personality status, skills and other school activities.”

The awarding is strength for the winners to pursue further studies in their fields and it will be a drive for students to do their best in learning.

Su Myat Mon said “I passed the matriculation exam with 6 flying colors. I am 8th on the Yangon Region Top Ten list. I tried my upmost as much as I could. I didn’t expect to receive this award. I am very happy for this achievement. I would like to urge all students to try the best.”

Min Htet Naing said “I passed the 2015-2016 Academic Year matriculation exam with 6 flying colors. I tried my best by studying not only school subjects but also knowledge. I am very proud of myself to be recognized as an outstanding student in this awarding ceremony. This kind of awarding ceremony for outstanding students is good.”

In this awarding ceremony, cash prize, trophy and certificates were presented to the outstanding students.
