Ousted Nissan chairman Ghosn arrives in Japan court

8 January 2019

A police bus believed to be carrying the ousted Nissan Motor Co Ltd chairman Carlos Ghosn arrived at a Tokyo court on Tuesday, where Ghosn is set to appear in his first public appearance since his arrest in November on allegations of financial misconduct.

Ghosn is scheduled to appear at the Tokyo District Court for a hearing requested by his lawyers to explain the reasons for his prolonged detention since his Nov. 19 arrest. Ghosn's Japanese lawyers have also scheduled a press conference for Tuesday afternoon, where they are expected to speak in his defense for the first time since the arrest. The legal team is headed by former prosecutor Motonari Otsuru.
