Making betal leaf boxes is a Myanmar culture that has almost disappeared in many regions of the country Myanmar. It is one of the traditional Myanmar cultures that is rare to see today and the creation art of betal leaf boxes must be passed down from generation to generation by ancestors.

Nowadays, although some people use the betal boxes which are made with gold and silver at the donation ceremony, betal leaf boxes, is made with banana and betal leaves are still used in auspicious donation ceremonies of the upper part of Myanmar.

The handing down of creation art of betal leaf boxes is a little bit different from one region to another. On the eve day of donation ceremony, around 10 women, led by 1 elder woman, prepared to make the betel leaf boxes which are made with betal and banana leaves and cotton.

There are 13 types of components included in the making of the betal leaf boxes step by step. Betal boxes holders are selected by betal boxes holders group and according to the rules and traditions, only young women who have parents and are single are chosen as betal boxes holders.

Although it is just betal box, it is still cherished and valued more than gold and silver betal boxes in the upper part of Myanmar.
