Orders: SAC Chairman grants amnesty to 3,113 prisoners

The State Administration Council issued the orders No. 28, No. 29 and No. 30 /2023 on the 17th of April, the Myanmar New Year Day. The orders state that Chairman of the State Administration Council granted amnesty to 3,015 local prisoners, amnesty and deportation to 98 foreign prisoners and prison sentence reduction, amnesty and deportation to 5 citizens of Sri Lanka as a gesture for the auspicious Myanmar New Year period, and in the concept of humanitarian ground according to the Section 401, Sub-Section (1) of the Criminal Code of Law.

The local prisoners released from prisons of Kachin State, Kayah State, Kayin State, Sagaing Region, Tanintharyi Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Mon State, Rakhine State, Yangon Region, Shan State and Ayeyawaddy Region were provided with cash assistance and transport service.
