Order for Closure of Ongoing Cases: NDSC ordered for the closure of ongoing cases

The National Defense and Security Council granted remission and pardon with Order No. 12/2025 on November 26. The Order described that the National Defense and Security Council is prioritizing efforts to ensure that the entire population can successfully progress toward the multi-party democratic system that the people aspire to.

It is implementing its plans so that these goals can be effectively realized through the cooperation of the public. To ensure that all eligible voters in the upcoming multi-party democracy general election are able to cast their votes freely and fairly, the Council has ordered the closure of ongoing cases against 5,580 individuals who had been prosecuted either under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code or under Section 512 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for evading arrest after committing such offenses. In accordance with Section 427 of the Constitution, these individuals are to be released from their cases. The Order is signed by the Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe.
