




Organized by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Myanmar Hotelier Association, the opening ceremony of the Training of Trainers (TOT) course on hospitality was held at Tungapuri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday with the attendance of Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khaing, Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe, Permanent Secretary, Director General, senior officials, officials from the Myanmar Tourism Federation and the Myanmar Hotelier Association, trainers and trainees and invited guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister said that the Ministry is planning to organize five working groups comprised of the officials from the public-private sector to conduct weekly discussions and, these groups are implementing discussion sessions and tackling the issues for the development of Myanmar's Hotel and Tourism industry.
This (TOT) course is opened in accordance with ASEAN (MRA-TP) guidelines, intending to reduce the skill gap in hotel and tourism sector and will be conducted by the ASEAN Master Trainer certificate holders, she added. She reiterated that a total of 587 ASEAN national trainers, 18 ASEAN master trainers and 18 ASEAN master assessors have been turning out and also, the ministry is implementing the Accreditation Program and planning to open refresher courses nationwide in cooperation with the Myanmar Tourism Federation.
Next, an official from MyanmarHotelier Association (Nay Pyi Taw Zone) explained the purpose of opening the course and the works to be undertaken. This was followed by the group photo session. The TOT course is set to be conducted in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay for 5 days with 20 trainees each.
