Opening of Cricket tournament: Bago Region CM opened the tournament

Organized by Bago Region Government, the opening ceremony for the 2024 Bago Region Chief Minister's Cup Cricket Tournament for males and females under the age of 25 was held at the football ground of the Hanthawady United Football Club on September 23 with the attendance of Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win.

In his opening speech, Chief Minister stated that cricket is a competitive sport at both the Asian and Southeast Asian levels, where regional countries strive to excel. He emphasized the importance of training to improve Myanmar’s cricket capabilities. To foster the development of cricket players across districts, the Bago Region Government collaborated with the Myanmar Cricket Federation to conduct cricket training sessions led by experienced coaches. He noted that the players selected from this tournament would undergo systematic training to prepare for the upcoming national sports festival. He encouraged everyone to strive for success and officially opened the competition.

Next, the Chief Minister accepted the donation of cricket sports wares worth 30 million Kyats donated by Vice Chairman of Myanmar Cricket Federation U Kyaw Kyaw and presented cash of honor to the drum and bugle corps and Pom Pom dance group.

The tournament will be held from 23rd to 27th September and 12 men and women teams from 6 Districts will compete in the tournament, it’s reported.
