Opening Ceremony of Trainings: MoI UM delivered the opening address virtually

The opening ceremony for the Chemical Management Training and Waste Management Training was held, in the morning on November 20, at the office of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region.

The Union Minister for Industry, Dr. Charlie Than, attended virtually via the video conferencing system from Meeting Hall of Office No. (30) of the Ministry of Industry in Nay Pyi Taw. According to the agenda, the Union Minister for Industry delivered the opening address for the training.

He stated that conducting such trainings would greatly assist in implementing the objectives of the Law on Preventing Hazards from Chemical and Related Substances. These objectives include: protecting living beings from dangers caused by chemical and related substances and preventing damage to natural environmental resources; systematically supervising and controlling permitted operations involving chemical and related substances to ensure safety; widely conducting public awareness and research activities to promote the systematic use of chemical and related substances and implementing an information acquisition system; and undertaking continuous development for workplace safety, health, and environmental protection.

Following this, the Deputy Director General of the Department of Industrial Cooperation under the Ministry of Industry explained the purpose of organizing the training and the topics to be discussed and taught during the course. A group photo was then taken with the attendees, after which the opening ceremony was concluded. In the afternoon, the 4th (2025-2026) Coordination Meeting of the Machinery Supervision Committee was held at the Meeting Hall of Office No. (30) of the Ministry of Industry.

The meeting was attended by the Committee Chairman and Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, committee members including Permanent Secretaries and Directors-General from various ministries, and responsible officials from the Ministry of Industry.

First, the Committee Chairman Union Minister stated that this meeting was convened to discuss and approve eight fund transfer utilization proposals and one project cost alteration proposal submitted to the Machinery Supervision Committee by ministries/organizations for the 2025-2026 financial year.

He also mentioned the need to discuss whether additional working committees should be formed to fulfill the committee's duties more comprehensively and effectively. He requested the members to strive towards enabling the committee to carry out its duties more effectively and to actively contribute suggestions and discussions.

Subsequently, the nine proposals submitted by the ministries/organizations were presented and explained by the relevant committee members and ministry representatives. The attending members then jointly discussed, provided suggestions, and approved the proposals. The Union Minister delivered concluding remarks before the meeting was concluded.
