








The opening ceremony of 4thLancang-Mekong Audiovisual Week co-organized by China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA), Ministry of Information of Cambodia and People’s Government of Yunnan Province of China was held at the Studio Hall (1) of Yunnan Media Group in Kunmming City in the evening on 16th August.
The opening ceremony was held in two parts of giving remarks and entertainment programs and the representatives from the medias fo South and South-Asia countries and main stream medias extended words of greeting.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister (The National Radio and Television Administration of China-NRTA), Information Minister of Cambodia, Deputy Governor of Yunan Province, Union Minister for information U Maung Maung Ohn, Information, Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister of Laos gave opening speech.
In his remark, the Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said for the actual development of the regional countries, the contribution of knowledge and information by the media sector plays the crucial role. That drives to accelerate more cooperation in media integration measures for strengthening mutual linkages among the medias of Mekong-Langcang countries and substantive collaboration. It will facilitate the relations among the people of Mekong-Langcang countries as well as close contact and a community with shared future will be enabled to build.
That’s the implementation of the theme of 4thLancang-Mekong Audiovisual Week “Enjoy Lancang-Mekong Audiovisual Extravaganza and Co-Compose the Golden Chapter”.
Afterward, according to the agenda, China’s National Radio and Television Administration and Sri Lanka signed and exchanged documents of MoU on cooperation of China Television Theater between the two countries. Then, the Mekong Look App was launched.
Mekong Look App has been established by Yunnan Media Group with the Mekong-Lancang countries’ languages including China, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam. Till the end of the August, 2023, the App is being conducted test running with China, Cambodia and Thai languages and at the end of 2025, it will be extended with Lao, Myanmar and Viet Nam languages.
Myanmar as a of Mekong-Lancang country, will implement to be able to sign MoU to join in it since it’s one of the approaches to promote the communication and cooperation among the member countries. During the ceremony, the documentary videos on the Mekong-Lancang cooperation activities, previous occasions, the development programs and contents were screened and presented with the techniques of the regional countries.
The ministers for information, Deputy Ministers, counselors, heads of TV stations held an exclusive meeting and exchanged views on the information issues prior to the opening ceremony.
Later, the Deputy Minister of NRTA and Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province hosted dinner for the attendees. In the afternoon, the Union Minister and party together with the representatives from the Mekong-Lancang countries visited Yunnan Famous Tea Museum and the responsible officials explained necessary matters.
