





Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi attended the opening ceremony of the Multi-Species Arboretum and the commencement workshop for the successful completion of the "Integrated Management and Demonstration of Forest Ecosystems in the Mekong Region (Myanmar)" project, jointly organized by the Forest Department and the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet) held at the Forest Research Institute in Yezin, Nay Pyi Taw, on March 10.
First, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi cut the ribbon to officially open the Multi-Species Arboretum. Following this, the opening ceremony continued, during which the Union Minister delivered an opening speech. He emphasized the importance of sustainable forest management systems and the need to preserve a healthy natural environment for future generations. He urged all relevant departments, organizations, and stakeholders to continue their efforts in this regard.
Subsequently, the Executive Director of the APFNet Secretariat delivered a commemorative speech. After the opening ceremony, the Union Minister toured the exhibition hall to inspect the displays and presentations. Following this, the workshop on the successful completion of the project was held. Attendees discussed the Multi-Species Arboretum and the agroforestry mixed-crop plantations in the project area villages. They engaged in group discussions on the necessary follow-up actions and long-term sustainability measures, and reviewed the outcomes of the project.
