Online Scams and Gambling : Myanmar repatriates 378 Chinese Nationals

The government is making thorough investigation to the individuals and groups involved in online scams and online gambling activities. These individuals, who entered Myanmar illegally through border routes, were involved in various criminal activities, including online gambling and online fraud in the Kayin State, especially in Myawaddy, Shwekokko, and KK Park area.

On Thursday, 378 Chinese nationals involved in these activities were repatriated to their respective countries through the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2, in line with international humanitarian principles and legal procedures.

From January 30 to April 3, 2025, a total of 8,724 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar have been investigated and detained. Among them, 7,065 have been repatriated to their countries through Thailand in accordance with legal procedures, while the remaining 1,659 individuals are ready for repatriation to their respective countries.

These individuals have been well-maintained and monitored. As of April 3, the government has detained 8,724 foreign nationals, including those from 33 countries, with the majority these individuals are Chinese nationals.
