Online Frauds: Eradicating illegal online activities

Through the trilateral cooperation of Myanmar, China and Thailand, efforts are intensified to eliminate online fraud and online gambling by cracking down on those who are engaging in those unlawful acts.

On 27th March, a total of detained 365 Chinese citizens were deported via Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge No.2 in accordance with the legal procedures, upholding humanitarian principles and friendly relations between the nations.

In the morning, Kayin State Social Affairs Minister U Saw Tun Aung presided over a meeting with the departmental officials to ensure systematic deportaion process of the detainees. The Minister and officials also oversaw the conditions of the detainees and coordinated necessities on their needs.

Then, the handover ceremony was held and it was attended by the Kayin State Social Affairs Minister U Saw Tun Aung, Deputy Director-General of Criminal Investigation Department of Public Security of China Mr Liu Ning Ning and Thai Immigration officials.

At the ceremony, the handover documents were transferred systematically. From 30th January to 27th March 2025, a total of 8,670 illegal foreign nationals were detained and 6,163 of the detainees have already been deported to their respective countries in line with the laws and procedures. Most of the detainees are Chinese citizens and rest of them are from 31 other countries.
