Online Frauds: 141 illegal immigrants detained on March 2

Myanmar, China, and Thailand are proactively investigating and dismantling networks involved in online scams, gambling and illicit operations through trilateral cooperation.

On 2nd March, 141 foreign illegal entrants were apprehended in the Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko, Mae Htaw Tha Lay and KK Park areas of Kayin State. Joint forces are systematically compiling essential personal data for the prompt repatriation of these individuals in compliance with legal protocols.

Between January 30th and March 2nd 2025, a total of 3,474 illegal entrants were detained. Of these, 757 have been repatriated to their countries via Thailand. The remaining 2,717 individuals are being securely held and are prepared for handover.
