Onion and Garlic Market: High demand from local consumers in Mandalay

Onionand garlic from the northern Shan State and Pyin Oo Lwin are flowing into the Mandalay market and they get high demand from local consumers. The onion and garlic at the Mandalay market are at reasonable prices.

Aung Moe Naing, said " In Mandalay market, based on size, price of a viss of garlic from Pyin Oo Lwin and the northern Shan Stateranges from 2,200 Kyats to 2,800 kyats. And, regarding onion, it is about 1,200 kyats and 1,300 kyats for a viss."

Cultivation of onion and garlic in the areas between the northern Shan State and Pyin Oo Lwin started this year, and the cultivation has become successful. In Mandalay market,a viss of Myanmar onion fetches only about 1,700 kyats.
