Omani Foreign minister meets Swiss counterpart ahead of Iran nuclear talks

Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi met his Swiss counterpart, Ignazio Cassis, in Geneva Monday on the eve of a second round of talks about Iran's nuclear programme between the United States and Iran, which Oman is leading. 

The discussions focused on preparations and efforts to move the negotiations toward a consensus agreement. During the meeting, both diplomats emphasized the importance of dialogue and understanding and reaffirmed Oman’s support for continued mediation between Tehran and Washington.

The talks are part of a renewed indirect negotiation process between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman and taking place in Geneva following a first round held earlier in Muscat, Oman on 6 February.
