Olympic Solidarity: National Sport Administrators’ Course Opened

The opening ceremony of National Sport administrators’ course (3/2018) jointly conducted by International Olympic Committee and Myanmar Olympic Committee was held at the department of sports and physical education under the ministry of health and sports Yangon, Monday.

The training is the part of Olympic Solidarity Programmes which helps the National Olympic Committees (NOC) to develop their own structures through relevant and targeted programmes, which enables them not only to consolidate their place and role within the Olympic Movement in general and within their own national structures, but also to increase their autonomy and independence as well.

JOINT SECRETARY GENERAL, MYANMAR OLYMPIC COMMITTEE, KHIN MAUNG LWIN said “The purpose of the training is to turn out the excellent administrators and skilled leaders for the success in the competitions. We need the good leaders to nurture the young and outstanding athletes, strengthen friendships and communication with athletes not only for Olympic but also other games as well.”  

The training was started since 2017 which aims to give the instruction of policies of Olympic committee. The trainees have to carry out the task with the facts such as recruiting the new generation athletes from the townships, improving the sport grounds, organizing the township level competitions, and promoting the Myanmar sports.

Trainee, San Nyo Htwe said “The trainers will train us about the sports and games theoretically and practically. I think this training will help me to nurture the young athletes in Kayah state.”

38 officers from across Myanmar including women officers joined the training.

The weekly training for the National sport administrators from across Myanmar will take place from 9th to 13th of July.
